Ti puri 7 cari

Originated from Hindu wedding in Mauritius, this special meal consists of 7 different vegetables curries, usually accompanied with fried flatbreads.

The yellow curry ( cari gros pois) is big beans cooked in sticky masala and mixed with square chopped potatoes.

The red one is soya chunks ( rougaille soya ) cooked in a deliciously tomato curry with ginger and garlic.

The white one is jackfruit ( cari zak ) cooked in little bit of spices with dry chilies.

The green is chouchou ( sautéed chayote ) which is cooked in little oil, and constanctly adding water.

The besides square contain two curry is was put together. The yellow one is sliced banana ( cari bananes ) cooked in mustard.

The deep dark green one is a tangy spinach-like leafy green vegetable, namely fueilles de songe in Mauritius, and Kutchou in hindu weddings.

The aside long rectangle contain a typical Mauritian pickle ( zasar ) mixed with chilies, carrots, apples and tamarind.

Finally the fried flatbreads ( ti-puri) is for scooping up the curries. This meal is also served with basmati rice.

This plate is most desirable in Mauritius, be it any religion or community. People wait for Indian weddings to enjoy this meal. It is usually served on banana leaves in the in weddings.
